Who we are
We’re not just a factory. Behind every product is a person, precision, and responsibility to those who wear our garments.
We are a family business — founded by Janka and Jozef Melek; today it is led together with the second generation, with their children also involved in the company’s operations and
development.
We produce in Slovakia for Europe, making every decision with long-term impact in mind.

Roots
In northern Slovakia, in Námestovo, tailoring had a long tradition. The Makyta factory was a major clothing producer — exporting across Czechoslovakia and nearby countries, employing hundreds of tailors.
As one of nine children, Janka started in 1985 at 14 at a vocational school tied to the factory. The training was practical: by year two she joined the line, and after graduation worked three years in the factory.
This was how she entered the world of garment production, which then set the rhythm for the region.
After the fall of communism, Janka and her husband began creating what the market lacked — boys’ suits. The first fabrics were bought at the local fair. Packed in a backpack, they traveled home by bus, ready to begin sewing.
1990: Beginnings at home
At the table, fabrics were measured; on the floor, pieces cut. Sewing at night, delivery by dawn. No plans — only hands that remembered each stitch.
People from the neighborhood came with requests, and we learned to listen. When the order for a first men’s jacket came, Janka — then a women’s tailor — decided to learn something new.
She took apart her husband Jozef’s wedding jacket, studied Burda, and with her training made her first pattern. Overnight she sewed it, and in the morning Jozef took it to a client in Žilina.
Demand grew so fast that customers waited up to five weeks. Later, she invited former classmates to help. Step by step — the living room became a workshop, then a company.

Products & hall
With growing demand came expansion into the Czech market, the first modern technologies, and larger industrial spaces. The portfolio expanded from trousers, coats, and jackets to complete suits.
Each new product tested how to keep craftsmanship while managing larger volumes.
Each challenge brought us closer to becoming a professional factory.
In 2007 we reached a milestone — moving into our own new facilities: a 3,000 m² plant in Námestovo.
The team grew to more than 160 people, and with the new hall came a new beginning.
New markets and European identity
Since 2009, new machines, digitalization, and exports have been added — from Slovakia and the Czech Republic to France, Italy, and Scandinavia.
We also began collaborating with the luxury segment.
When precision was needed, we sought technology.
When uncertainty came, we held on to craftsmanship.
Crises taught us production isn’t just about processes — it’s about people. And that “Made in Europe” stands for duty, not a marketing slogan.
2023: Platform for clothing engineering
Today, we are no longer just a factory but a clothing engineering platform. At its core, 50 professionals unite precision, craft, and modern technology.
The new generation brings fresh ideas, while experienced experts pass on their know-how — together we build a bridge between tradition, innovation, and ethical production within the EU.
For larger projects, we collaborate with audited partners who share our quality standards.

Team
Over the years, we have built a strong production base and a team of 160 people. Today, our platform consists of 50 specialists combining long-standing experience with modern technologies and a flexible approach.
A smaller, specialized team means faster communication, better plans, and higher-quality collaboration.
We are the internal core of production; for larger projects, we cooperate with audited partners who share our standards of quality and ethics.
